The Prima 8 printer, FIPS 201 certified for personalising US Government credentials, utilizes retransfer printing technology to produce high-quality photo cards quickly and in large volumes, comparable to offset litho printing.

The Magicard Prima 8 can be equipped with various card encoding devices for secure electronic data writing at the point of issuance. Options include contact chip, MIFARE®, DESFire®, and iClass® encoding for smart cards. The printer can also accommodate specialist high-security encoders, such as EMV accredited devices, for in-line personalization of payment cards. Additionally, a built-in magnetic stripe encoder is available as an option.

With its retransfer printing process, the Magicard Prima 8 delivers high-volume photo quality, providing a reliable and robust solution for instant issuance and lamination. The images are first printed onto a thin film and then heat transferred onto the card surface, resulting in a high-resolution glossy image that extends right over the edge of the card.
